With a game to play late next weekend and a match rescheduled for Sunday, Les Verts were under pressure when they took on Limonest. All the more so, given that their opponents, who are in contention to climb the table, were going to be a tough nut to crack. Razik Nedder's men were serious from the outset, but did not let themselves be outplayed by the side they had managed to hold on to in the first leg (2-2).  

However, it wasn't until the 46th minute and the return from the break that ASSE had their best chance of the game. Cheikh Fall headed the ball past the keeper, only to see his attempted rebound cleared off the line. Unfortunately, the rest of the second half was dominated by the visitors, who nevertheless kept coming up against Issiaka Touré, the keeper, who put in a very fine performance. And their performance was rewarded, for in added time, Kenzo Kies was sent clear by Kevin Pedro. Le Vert didn't miss the chance to open the scoring at the perfect moment (ASSE 1-0 Limonest, 90th)! A Saint-Etienne jackpot!

The win at the end of the day gave Les Verts a breath of fresh air in the standings. They will have the opportunity to make a real leap forward next weekend, when they face FC Chamalières in a late match on Matchday 13.

Coach's reaction

“There were two halves to the game: the first where we were pretty much in control of our game, and the second which was much less so. I thought we were less at ease with our passing, in particular. But winning this match against a team like Limonest, just a few weeks after beating Bourgoin, shows that we're a good team in a tough league. The ranking was a bit scary at the start... If we can win this game next week, we'll give ourselves some breathing space!” commented Razik Nedder.
